Sam Bates, AKA Smug, October 2018 painted the Viterra Silos in Wirrabara. These 28 meters in silos are the canvas, completed in three weeks of meticulous work.
The man on the silos is Dion Lebrun, a resident of Tumby Bay chosen by Smug as the embodiment of a quintessential South Australian farmer.
In the mural, Dion is depicted with his trusty axe slung over his shoulder, under the watchful gaze of a Robin Red Breast perched on his companion’s shoulder, symbolising a harmonious connection between man and nature.
